I am writing this having eaten far too much (the time of writing being Christmas day and this being the final ‘window’ in an advent series of twenty-five for anyone happening along in midsummer). It is a familiar feeling. I was sure for most of this month that I had bitten off far more than I could chew by setting myself up for this challenge. And now that the WordPress deep dive is done – what’s next for the site?

I began this process with the optimistic plan that I might achieve three things at a single stroke.

  1. reboot the blog with some useful content
  2. build a new site ready for supporting the forthcoming PHP Objects Patterns and Practice (Fifth Edition) as well as new products and my company’s services.
  3. lay down some core content that might form the basis of an initial product – an e-book.

Well, two out of three isn’t bad. I have nothing close to a new site — as I wrote yesterday, the writing and the research took over somewhat. So getting a fairly clean minimal site out will be my next priority. At the same time, I’d rather not let the blog die back to silence, so I’ll be sorting out an editorial calendar for 2017 – with a first post in the first week of January.

Oh… and a happy new year to all!
